It was an amazingly gorgeous weekend here in the south, which was a nice break from the bouts of rain we've been having. To celebrate the nice weather, I devised a workout that I wanted to do this weekend and coerced the boyfriend into doing it with me. We haven't gotten the chance to go on a bike ride in the past couple weeks because of our schedules so I wanted to incorporate cycling into whatever we did. Thus the Saturday morning duathlon was born.
We have ridden up to Furman University before on part of the Swamp Rabbit Trail, but I wanted to add another aspect to the workout. I'm trying to get back into running so I figured that the loop around Furman Lake would be the perfect break in our ride (plus my butt gets sore and needs a break from the bike seat!).
We rode 6 miles up to Furman University on the trail and then locked up our bikes. For the ~1.5 miles around the lake we did intervals of running and walking. I found intervals to be the easiest at this point since my legs were already a little jello-like from the ride. A nice group of intervals and back on the bike for the 6 mile ride back to town.

At this point we were starving and debating where to go for lunch. My friend Lauren had mentioned a delicious new restaurant in downtown and we decided to give it a go.
Green Lettuce boasts a Middle Eastern type cuisine with healthy salads and sandwiches. The boyfriend and I decided to split an entree salad and sandwich.

We opted for the Mixed Green Salad that had an amazing combination of spinach,
lettuce, feta cheese, grapes, strawberries and walnuts. The house dressing was
light and fantastic.

The sandwich was a turkey, ham and cheese and was well worth the extra dollar
for the cheese to be melted. The sandwich plate also came with a small cup of tomato basil soup. Now I usually hate tomato soup, but again their combination was incredible.

We really could not get over how fresh and delicious the combination of food
was. Much needed after a great workout and will definitely be a place we
revisit!
We headed home for a little bit of relaxation before we got started on our weekend projects (which will be on the blog soon). A successful start to the weekend!
