Halloween is a very fun time of year with costumes, parties and lots and lots of candy. Halloween candy comes out in stores months before the actual holiday and is hard to avoid. A few little pieces of candy here and there can't hurt us, but many of us don't realize how many calories these little suckers have. Check out the calorie count on some of your favorite treats (fun size):
KitKat: 70 calories
Twix: 80
Snickers: 80
Milky Way: 80
Reese's: 110
Butterfinger: 100
Plain M&Ms: 73
Almond Joy: 80
Skittles: 80
Starburst (1 piece): 20
Candy Corn (19 pieces): 140
These little "fun size" candies can quickly add up without thinking twice. So, be aware of how and when you're allowing these treats.
A great way to decrease the amount of Halloween candy you have is to find a Candy Donation or Candy Buy Back. My mom used to set up a donation where the candy would get shipped to troops overseas. Also, a dentist in the Greenville area will actually buy back candy and then send it to troops overseas. Take a look around your area and you'll probably find a better place for the candy than your house/body!
