Kefir is a fermented milk product, similar to yogurt, but in a more liquid form. This product is made from kefir grains made of bacteria and yeast, where yogurt only uses bacteria. Kefir boasts a high content of probiotics, or healthy bacteria. It is also a fantastic source of calcium and B vitamins. Not only does it have good vitamins and nutrients, but it has a high source of protein with about 11g per cup!
I love to drink the tangy beverage plain or add it to my overnight oats, smoothies, etc. This definitely saves me as a good recovery drink since it has solid protein and carbohydrate content and can tide me over until I get the chance to eat a balanced meal. Kefir does come in different flavors, but I prefer the plain version so I can doctor it to my liking! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
