I headed to the local Asian supermarket and grabbed some must haves. Many of the items you can find in regular grocery store, but they are usually cheaper and more authentic at a culture specific store. I purchased sushi rice, rice vinegar, low sodium soy sauce, nori or seaweed sheets, wasabi (for the boyfriend...I can't handle that stuff) and a bamboo mat.
The first step was to cook the rice. Sushi rice works on a 1:1 ratio so I cooked 2 cups of rice in 2 cups of water. I let the rice and water boil and then reduced it to a simmer for ~ 15 minutes.
