This week has been one of those weeks. There have been a bunch of ups and downs followed by more ups and downs. Such is life. However, the happenings of the week have really allowed me to sit down and rethink my beliefs and my passions.
Stressful situations call for stress busters. One of the best ways that I am able to feel calm and at peace is when doing yoga. I used to be a hot yoga fanatic and went almost daily for a whole year. While I don't practice anymore (due to the class schedule and my crazy schedule clashing), I still like to incorporate the moves into my meditation/yoga routine.
The traditional hot yoga is known as Bikram yoga and follows a series of 26 postures completed twice through. The normal class is 90 minutes in length. I do an abbreviated version at home and obviously don't incorporate a hot and humid room. I take the 26 postures and do each pose 1-2x with a 30 second hold. This evens out to be around 15-25 minutes.

One of the many reasons I love the 26 postures is because each posture has a unique and distinct affect on the body. Some target shoulder stress, while others help improve digestion. This routine allows me to focus on the inner workings of my body and give it the grace that it so often needs. Not only do I use this when dealing with stressful situations, but on a regular basis to check in with my body and continue improving myself.
