After a long process, with lots of unforeseen obstacles, we have finally finished the bathroom that we discussed months ago (surprises). Doing any project you have to be prepared for little glitches, but I think even more so in a do-it-yourself project.
The main point of the bathroom re-do was to make some needed updates, but also brighten up the room. To remind you, the bathroom looked like this when we started.
The main point of the bathroom re-do was to make some needed updates, but also brighten up the room. To remind you, the bathroom looked like this when we started.
From the starting point, our first step was painting the molding white. This step by itself helped to brighten the room a lot! However, we still wanted to do more and make some updates. We changed out the old light fixture along with the old knobs on the cabinet. The biggest undertaking was the staining process. We used an espresso stain from General Finishes and that process can be read about here. This stain was also used on the frame for the mirror to give it a more finished look per your all's recommendations. A few random purchases (cough cough upside down turtle, the boy's request) and...drum roll please....the finished product!
The plan would be to eventually change out the tile on the floor, but that will be a later doing. Overall, i'm really pleased with the final product and I feel like it makes the bathroom a much more comfortable and inviting place (which it should be!).
