- Everyone is different: Nutrition is very individualized. A diet/lifestyle that works for one may not work for another. You have to try different foods and eating habits to figure out what is the best for you, health and weight stability.
- Nutrition is a lifestyle: Yo-yo dieting won’t get you anywhere. The swinging between restrictive eating and bingeing only hurts your metabolism and your psyche. Find a happy medium where you can eat the things you love without continually overindulging.
- Listen to your body: When your stomach growls and your body tells you it’s hungry, you need to fuel it! Your body cues are the best determination of when you should be eating.
For myself I have found that a diet focused on low-processed foods, with 3 meals and snacks as needed, works for me. I try to consume more whole/natural products, but I most certainly indulge as well. For me, that is the balance of life. Finding a happy point where you are living life and not depriving yourself, but feeling healthy and satisfied. And yes, those things can occur at the same time!
