I told you all on Monday that I was going to be trying a new activity this week. I think it's important to try new things every once in awhile. I usually like to try new exercise routines because it gets me excited about exercise and keeps me motivated.
This week I tried ballet!
This week I tried ballet!
I decided to try ballet because I used to dance when I was younger and wanted to get back into it. I did jazz and tap throughout grade school so I figured I might have some coordination left. Ballet interested me because I want to work on my posture, grace and flexibility.
I searched a few ballet academies in Greenville and found one that had an adult class that I thought would fit my level. The class was an hour and a half and the instructor did an excellent job creating a class that taught me basics, but also challenged more advanced students. We did an hour of barre work, which was similar to the new Barre classes craze and definitely left me sore the next day. This was followed by a half hour of floor work. This routine got me sweating and focused on not only lower body strength and flexibility, but upper arm toning as well.
Overall, the experience was a great one and I look forward to incorporating more of this into my exercise routine. I definitely got my butt kicked, but that happens when you start something new!
I'm excited to see what changes my body goes through as I continue taking classes. What is something new that you've tried recently?!
